Who inspired the foundation?
Liam is the inspiration behind Liam's Voice foundation. He is an amazing 7 year old boy who was born with Spina Bifida and hydrocephalus. He relies on a feeding tube and cecostomy tube to live and was diagnosed with Autism at age 3. Liam is completely non verbal.
Why we started Liam's Voice
For so many children who are non verbal an iPAD can change their life. It is a tool to strengthen communication, independence and learning but also a fantastic tool for those moments when some quiet time in the form of a favourite show or song are needed.
We have personally seen the incredible growth with Liam's ability to communicate with us and his siblings and friends. From not being able to communicate the simplest of needs to having a voice for everything one could want or need. We want every child to be afforded the opportunity to have a voice!
How we came to be
It is quite an amazing story really. Liam was starting to grow in so many ways and his tablet quickly became a great tool for communication and to help through daily struggles. However, the tablet he had could not meet his needs for communication. Liam's Grandma had a contact named Colin Taves, President of CSI EPC who over the past few years has generously donated refurbished iPads to Liam that have truly changed his life and given him a voice. This year Colin approached us with the idea of donating multiple iPads in Liam's name that could be donated and this mother/daughter trio ran with the idea to create Liam's Voice Foundation. We will move forward with both Colin's donations as well as fundraising to help as many children as we can to find their voice!
